A logo should be unique and memorable! It has to have personality and represent the client’s business. Once the concept is conceived, the type and weight, imagery, and color will define the logo design. 

Brochure design services—Artform, a complete design studio, designs tri-fold and bi-fold brochures, sales brochures, and corporate identity packages that are custom-created to meet each client’s sales objective.

Artform was contracted to create a design layout for a sales brochure for a client who was in the process of expanding their wedding event planning business in New York to multiple locations nationwide. In addition to the printed brochure, a cd-rom presentation was created as a very personalized format that was mailed to perspective new clients. The designers selected a pastel palette and softened imagery throughout the piece. 

Gourmet magazine, the legendary chronicle of fine dining and eating, which has amassed a devoted following for nearly 70 years of publication, will close down according to publisher Condé Nast. The magazine, introduced in 1940, will cease publishing by the end of the year. Gourmet, which has nearly 1 million subscribers, fell victim to a decline in ad sales—the slowdown in print publishing and popular food shows on television and online sites eroded the magazine’s advertising revenue. Condé Nast will continue to use the Gourmet brand in book publishing and television programming, and Gourmet recipes will still appear on Epicurious.com. The publisher’s other epicurean title, Bon Appétit, will remain intact.

Future plans for editor-in-chief Ruth Reichl include promoting the cookbook, The Gourmet Cookbook: More than 1000 All-New Recipes for the Contemporary Kitchen,  more than 1,000 pages long and 5 years in the making, and there’s a new public television show, Gourmet’s Adventures With Ruth, making its debut October 17, 2009.

Corporate brochure design—designing a corporate brochure is one part of a company’s brand identity. A corporate brochure communicates its message through imagery. It defines a company’s capabilities resulting in strategies that will retain existing customers and attract new ones.

Storm King Contracting of Montgomery, New York, contracted Artform to create a corporate brochure and a re-design of their logo. The tone of the brochure was to reflect Storm King’s 25 plus years of distinguished leadership as a full-service construction organization delivering superior quality workmanship and excellent customer service.  From historic renovations and libraries, recreational and educational buildings, and luxury hotels, to medical facilities, large office buildings, and manufacturing plants, Storm King is unwavering in their commitment to respect the historical heritage and the natural beauty of the surrounding area (Storm King Mountain, the gateway to the Hudson Highlands) and to improve the lives of the residents and the surrounding communities.

The redesign of the logo involved changing the color palette and the font selection. The designers chose a dark maroon and black in place of the original blue and green, and they incorporated a strong all-caps font complemented by a lighter Helvetica to replace the original italicized font with a drop shadow. The brochure followed a large format measuring 9” x 12” incorporating a balanced design using two fonts in varying weights and sizes, large areas of clean white space juxtaposed against bright full-bleed 4-color pages.

When designing print ads, the first step in developing a print ad campaign is to establish the brand. Once determined, the graphic conceptualizing begins matching the client’s message to the targeted audience.

In this full-page ad, this photo beautifully displays America Retold’s vintage-inspired product line. The  typographic treatment complements the nostalgia and whimsy resulting in a pleasing visual that showcases the advertiser’s uniqueness.

The advertiser’s message can often be just as powerful using an image and a minimal amount of copy to engage the reader and stimulate a positive reaction.

A full-bleed large photo with a bold headline defines the advertiser’s capabilities. Additional imagery and bulleted sales points add credibility. 

Although copy-heavy, the use of this photo collage  engages the reader and keeps their attention.

What can be more compelling than a strong image? Add a muscular headline with benefits to grab attention and elicit response. Black and white imagery can often be very compelling particularly where color  generally dominates a page.

The quarterly publication addresses a previously untapped shelter-magazine market in Atlanta by delivering a “user’s guide” to living in an urban culture.
